Why can't I withdraw?
Your balance is right there and the exchange will not let it move. Almost always this is a timed security hold with a published length — and the exchange has not told you the date. Pick what happened and see the exact moment it lifts.

in 2 days 23 hours
Kraken holds this for 3 days (72 hours exactly)
- Only the amount you deposited or bought is held — the rest of your balance still moves
- You can trade right now
- You can still deposit
- It cannot be shortened. Support cannot lift it either — asking will not help.
Applies to every purchase, not only the first one with that card.

Nothing you enter leaves your browser. We never ask for your exchange account, and this page could not use one if you gave it — the answer is arithmetic on a published rule.
The longest hold at each exchange
28 published rules across 7 exchanges. No two are the same, which is the whole reason this page exists.
| Exchange | Longest published hold | What triggers it |
|---|---|---|
| Kraken | 7 days | Bought with a bank transfer through ACH Plaid |
| Binance.US | 7 days | Deposited USD by ACH bank transfer |
| KuCoin | 24 hours | Changed, unlinked or reset Google 2FA |
| OKX | 2 days | Withdrew to an address flagged as high risk |
| Crypto.com App | 24 hours | Whitelisted a new withdrawal address |
| Coinbase | Not published | — |
| Gemini | 7 days | Added a new approved withdrawal address |
What a hold is not
It is not your account being frozen, and it is not the exchange refusing to pay you. Most holds are scoped: a card purchase locks the purchase amount, not your balance; a new address locks that address, not the ones you already use. Trading almost always keeps working, which is why the money looks available and is not.
Holds also cannot be talked down. Several exchanges say so outright — Coinbase states its own support cannot reduce one. If someone contacts you offering to release your funds faster, that is a scam, every time.
If the money never arrived in the first place
A hold is about money the exchange has. If your deposit never showed up at all, that is a different problem with a different answer — paste the transaction hash and we will tell you where it actually went.
Every figure here is read off the exchange's own help pages. Data version 2, last updated September 1, 2026. Each exchange page carries its own sources and the date they were checked.
